About Brave

Brave is on a mission to protect the human right to privacy online. We’ve built a free web browser that blocks creepy ads and trackers by default, a private search engine with a truly independent index, a browser-native crypto wallet, and a private ad network (opt-in!) that directly rewards you for your attention. And we’re just getting started. Already 50 million people have switched to Brave for a faster, more private web. Millions more switch every month.

The internet is a sea of ads, hackers, and echo chambers. Big Tech makes huge profits off our data, and tells us what’s true and what’s not. Brave is fighting back. Join us!

Summary

Brave is looking for an experienced server side engineer who can help us keep our Brave Rewards backend infrastructure in great shape.  We are looking to continuously improve the Brave Rewards antifraud systems to make sure our Basic Attention Token flows quickly and reliably to creators, end users and vendors alike.  We are looking for somebody who always prefers a simple solution over a complex one and who can take whole solutions from end to end.

Technical Requirements:

  • Experience with Go
  • Experience with Postgres, Redis, DynamoDB Redshift and other related database technologies
  • Experience with Kafka and other event stores / message queues
  • Experience event driven backend systems with a microservices architecture
  • Experience with containerization and deploying production systems at scale
  • Experience integrating and using monitoring solutions like Prometheus and Grafana, etc
  • Experience with software development via distributed development teams

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A passion for working on critical, high visibility systems with financial consequences
  • Comfort working in an open source setting
  • Strong desires to protect users’ privacy and balance this against data collection needs
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English
  • A proven record of getting things done

Nice to haves

  • Experience with the world of cryptocurrency, with a particular focus on Ethereum and Solana
  • Familiarity with challenges in privacy preserving ecosystems
  • Experience stopping bad actors in a system, e.g. ad fraud, e-commerce fraud
  • Strong leadership skills and a desire to grow into ownership of the systems you work on

Working at Brave

  • Industry-leader in privacy, with a research and engineering team that’s innovating everyday to keep people safer online and beat Big Tech
  • Highly competitive salaries & benefits, and generous home-office stipends
  • Fully remote team (no office, no commute)
  • Welcoming, humble, ridiculously smart teammates, and a truly flat org structure
  • Opportunity to get in early at a hyper-growth company, and revolutionize the web
  • Oh, and did we mention Brendan, our CEO & co-founder, invented JavaScript?

About Aztec

At Aztec we believe privacy isn’t just a fundamental right, but a creative force for web3. Our goal is to unleash the full potential of decentralized technologies by building an open, privacy-first network with no compromises.

Privacy enables use cases that otherwise would not be possible and accelerates mainstream adoption. The next wave of web3 applications will require programmable privacy. Aztec’s technology empowers developers with the tools to build private applications and bring their ideas to reality.

Our journey started while building an application to bring syndicated loans on chain. We realized that our idea was a nonstarter without privacy. There were no solutions to offer privacy on public blockchains - so we sought out to build it ourselves. Since then, we've made industry-leading advances in cryptography, and deployed a private money platform and a private DeFi platform.

To realize our vision of implementing privacy on a public blockchain, we are building a world-class team of cryptographers, engineers, and ecosystem builders. Supporting us on this journey are leading investors including Paradigm, Variant, Consensys, and a_capital.

Role focus

Working across the entire codebase to:

  • Understand the full system architecture end to end.
  • Prioritise and document technical debt and un-necessary complexity within the system.
  • Discuss and gain approval for codebase improvements from relevant stakeholders.
  • Refactor code, improving readability, documentation, maintainability and unit testing.
  • Improve monitoring and metrics.
  • Ensure we're using the most up-to-date tooling and development workflows for maximum developer efficiency.

Desired experience

  • 8+ years solid engineering experience.
  • 2+ years TypeScript experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in writing well documented, readable, simple, team friendly code.
  • A passion for taking an existing system and pragmatically refining it.
  • C++ and Solidity experience a bonus.

What we offer:

  • A highly competitive compensation package (including equity)
  • Flexible and remote work environment
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays annually
  • An opportunity to work at the cutting edge of blockchain and FinTech with a world class cryptography and engineering team

Senior Back End and Smart Contract Engineer

Satori

The mission of the Senior Smart Contract and API Engineer at Satori is to build, test and deploy our core back-end infrastructure (Smart contracts, APIs, login systems, security processes) and ensure they are easily integrated by the front-end apps and widgets that use them.

Since Satori is a startup, you will need to wear a lot of hats and cover new ground. You will certainly touch smart contracts and our core API architecture but may also need to help lay the groundwork for new services like login SDKs or SSO widgets. The team is rapidly building new apps and releasing new features so you’ll need to be comfortable with balancing fast-paced shipping against good architecture, testing and security.

This is a role for a senior engineer who already has deep experience with and understanding of building smart contracts and APIs. You don’t need experience with NEAR but you should have built production-grade smart contracts before and have the necessary exposure to Rust or Rust-like languages. We’re looking for an opinionated and informed web3 engineer who will come to the team with fresh architectural ideas and approaches.

Key outcomes

  1. Satori’s core smart contracts and APIs are performant, secure and easy to integrate with.
  2. New products or services can be rapidly developed and shipped using our architecture.

Requirements for everyone at Satori

  • Team-first Initiative: You identify problems proactively and solve them without much direction. You drive towards a collective team goal above all else.
  • Engagement: You learn constantly, try new things, test ideas and ask questions.
  • Ownership mentality: You take full ownership over your success and failure outcomes. You operate with inevitability and have high standards for completion.

Requirements for this role

  • Smart Contracts: You have worked in production environments for at least a year shipping smart contracts in any language. You constantly stay up-to-date on new architectural paradigms. You stay up to date on security, SPAM, sybil mitigations, the latest hacks, and other relevant issues affecting smart contracts.
  • Rust: You have worked for 2+ years in production environments developing with Rust or similar (eg C++) languages.
  • API architecture and implementation: You have built secure, performant APIs before and can speak intelligently about their architecture decisions (including tradeoffs between security/performance) and speak to the details of their implementation (including how to properly test them).
  • Core back-end fundamentals: Is your code clean, well-tested and well-documented? Do you describe intelligent architectural trade-offs?

The role grows with the team -- you will be able to take on as much as you can handle and more.

This is a remote-first position but we prefer candidates who are located close to US time zones.

Satori focuses on Technology, Blockchains, Digital Marketing, and Blockchain / Cryptocurrency. Their company has offices in United States. They have a small team that's between 1-10 employees.
